Running a Pickleball club
Running a pickleball club is more than showing up at the courts with a bunch of players.
A good club will have at least 2 convenors. Their responsibilities are:
- Create an environment with information available to everyone. This usually means a website;
- In Canada, this means close integration with the Pickleball Canada website. All player registrations are done in that environment and player information can easily be downloaded and kept up-to-date.
- Manage the player list, make sure the names, emails and phone numbers are up-to-date and players are registered for the year in which they are playing;
- create tournaments and events that fit within dedicated court allocations;
- respond to individual questions and requests. With a club of over 200 players this is very important and affects the overall atmosphere and culture of the club;
- Have a formal structure to your club. This means a constitution, a Board with officers, a bank account and a yearly AGM;
- Take photos, document activities, provide information on an on-going and timely basis.
